Jhul Ian Cañalita of Tabuan National High School in Garcia Hernandez town, Bohol secured the silver medal in the secondary boys 5,000-meter run as Palarong Pambansa 2024 kicked off at the Cebu City Sports Complex on Friday, July12.
He was finishing behind Jerico Cadag of Region IV-A who clinched the gold medal.
Cañalita clocked 16 minutes and 11 seconds (16:11.98), while Cadag finished with a time of 16:10:22.
Arnel Je Ylanan of Region IX took the bronze with a time of 16:1205.80.
Mark Allan Cantal and Gemma Genita were coaches, while Joncel Gulfan and Daniel Noval were assistant coaches.
Cañalita is a sports scholar of Dr. Alfred Valenzona.
