Around 1,200 delegates from 13 regions attended the 15th national gathering of members of the Philippine Association of Municipal Assessors, Inc. (Pamas).
The four-day event was held from June 18 to 21 at the MetroCentre Hotel and Convention Center, Tagbilaran City under the theme, “2nd Property Valuation Congress: Globalizing Competitiveness of the Philippine Property Appraisal and Assessment Practices.”
The participants included regional directors of the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), provincial, city, and municipal assessors, chief executives of local government units, and board of directors of Pamas.
On the second day of the event, June 19, Charlie Ilagan, Municipal Assessor of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, and the President of Pamas, thanked everyone for their warm support for the event.
Mayor Jane Yap also expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants for choosing as the conference venue Tagbilaran, the capital city of the first and only Unesco Global Geopark Regenerative Island Province in the Philippines.
Lawyer Handel Lagunay, provincial legal officer, who represented acting Governor Dionisio Victor Balite delivered a message for the conference participants.
Lagunay described the value of the homeland and its connection with the responsibilities of the provincial, city, and municipal assessors as government servants, citing Gov. Aris Aumentado’s Strategic Change Agenda on transparency and good governance.
He also thanked Pamas for choosing to hold the event in Bohol.
Gerardo Avorque, Region VII Director of the Department of Finance’s Bureau of Local Government Finance (BFLG), introduced Consolacion Agcaoili, executive director of BFLG, who was the keynote speaker during the event.
The conference focused on issues and topics related to Real Estate Appraisal and Issuances, Philippine Assessment Practices, and Digital Tax Mapping. (PIMO/ALT/JSS)
