TAGBILARAN CITY — At least 39 young parishioners dressed as saints paraded through the streets of Tagbilaran City on the eve of Halloween to honor the holy and remind others that All Saints’ Day is a celebration of faith, not fright.
The activity, held on Friday, October 31, at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral-Shrine, was part of the Diocese of Tagbilaran’s continuing effort to redirect the focus of the occasion from spooky costumes to the lives and virtues of the saints.
Rev. Fr. Ruel Tumangday, rector of the cathedral, said the “Parade of Saints” encourages children and youth to look up to holy men and women as role models of faith, humility, and service.
“We urge all the faithful to take part in the Parade of Saints in their parishes. This celebration helps deepen our faith, nurture love, and strengthen our commitment to follow Christ toward our salvation,” Tumangday said in his homily.
The event drew support from parishioners and families who cheered as children marched in saintly attire, carrying symbols of their chosen patrons. Organizers said the activity aims to inspire the young generation to live out the values of the saints in their everyday lives.
