Bohol Capitol donates new classroom building to Sampong Elem. School

The Provincial Government of Bohol turned over a newly constructed one-story two-classroom building to Sampong Elementary School in Brgy. Sampong, Garcia Hernandez.

The Provincial Engineering Office led by Engr. Camilo Gasatan said the classroom building was funded by the provincial government of Bohol was completed on April 29, 2024, at a cost of P3,833,612.42.

DepEd OIC PSDS Jovita Berana highlighted the significance of this donation by quoting Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon that can change the world.”

Berana expressed her gratitude, noting that Sampong Elementary School is particularly fortunate to receive this support from the Provincial Government. She hopes the new facility will be well-maintained and used to shape the future of the young students.

Currently, Sampong Elementary School serves 44 students with a dedicated team of 4 teachers, covering multi-grade classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Mayor Jess Baja also conveyed his appreciation to the provincial government for its continued support of education. He emphasized the positive impact the new classroom building and the recently provided water supply have had on the residents of Brgy. Sampong. Mayor Baja noted that these improvements are clear examples of how unity can enhance the lives of Boholanos, especially in Garcia Hernandez.

Vice Mayor Antonia Ladaga, along with the complete Sangguniang Bayan, Barangay officials led by Brgy. Capt. Vanessa Salva, PTA officials, teachers, and parents, joined the celebration.

Pablio Sumampong, Governor’s Office Executive Assistant, represented Acting Governor Dionisio Victor Balite during the ceremonial turnover.

Sumampong remarked that this project is a testament to the unity and collaboration of the leaders in the provincial government, spearheaded by Governor Aris Aumentado, as well as the local officials in Garcia Hernandez.

“Tugon ni Governor Aris Aumentado ug Acting Governor Victor Balite, nga ampingan unta ni sa atong mga magtutudlo ug ingon man sa atong barangay officials ug sa atong mga ginikanan, tungod kay tinguha sa atong mga kadagkoan nga kining maong building mapahimoslan pa sa mga umaabot nga henerasyon,” said Sumampong.

Lastly, the school principal, Cesar Jamero, said, “You can’t express in words when your heart is full of joy,” which led him to sing his gratitude. He then led the crowd in singing a thank-you song with his ukulele.
