The second season of the highly anticipated Governor’s Cup is finally back with its official launching on Thursday, April 4.
Held at the Bohol Cultural Center, the ceremonial launching was attended by mayors, sports coordinators, coaches, local youth development officers, and representatives from the 48 local government units (LGUs).
In his welcome address, Vice Gov. Dionsio Victor Balite acknowledged the commitment from the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Bohol Chapter through CPG Mayor Fernando Estavilla, LMP president, second district Rep. Maria Vanessa Aumentado and lawyer Abel Damalerio, representing first district Rep. Edgar Chatto.
In his message, Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado emphasized sports development as one key area of attaining a smart, resilient, and inclusive province align with the Strategic Change Agenda.
“You can expect more action from the teams that will be participating in this year’s Gov’s Cup, as well as discovering new talents that will propel Bohol towards greater heights in the world of sports,” Aumentado said.
He vowed iron-clad support to the players, coaches, staff, and participating LGUs to ensure the success of the sophomore season of the cup.
Aside from the unveiling of this season’s logo and jingle, another highlight was the presentation and sashing ceremony of the 28 candidates vying for the title of Miss Governor’s Cup 2024.

The muses are Althea Macasapal of Albuquerque, Reyka Gliece Amparado, Alicia; Alyssa Mae Batino, Antequera; Jamie Lorraine Lumacang Orias, Anda; Weena Ivanee Flores, Balilihan; Yiesha Unice Cagol, Batuan; Karmy Jessa Jucoy, Calape; Maria Theresa Hormachuelos, Bien Unido; Jellah Mae Marabilis, Carmen; and Maria Le Miculob, Buenavista.
Also representing their LGUs are Hanna Caryl Paña, Catigbian; Diosamabel Penaso, Candijay; Will May Polinar, Clarin; Eda Mild Taga-amo, Dimiao; Jasmin Clarice Varquez, Corella; Jusmine Amiel Bernales, Duero; Kayla Dahiroc, Lila; Karyl Rich Bag-o, Garcia Hernandez; Miere Joyce Reboldad, Maribojoc; and Christine Joy Torrejos, Getafe.
Completing the list are Krizzia Mae Kaleel Gulay, Guindulman; Marvic Dumangas, Pilar; Nikah Isabelle Bagsac, San Isidro; Amanda Isabel Miralles, Sierra Bullones; Jane Stephanie Saycon, Sevilla; Jessa Fe Araiz, Ubay; Sandra Jele, Tagbilaran City; and Ella Mae Namoc, Valencia.
Lawrence Xavier Ancla, Sangguniang Kabataan federated president, gave the closing remarks.
Organized by the Local Government Affairs Office, Special Events Section, and the Creatives Studio of the Governor’s Office, the second season of the Governor’s Cup will start on Sunday, April 7 at the Calape Cultural Center.
Four games are lined up under junior division pitting Jagna against Candijay; Bien Unido versus Talibon; Lila versus Loboc; and host Calape versus Sagbayan.
