61 surrenderees receive aid from gov’t

At least 61 Kauban sa Reporma surrenderees had taken pledge last year to come clean and start anew in the arms of the government, disowning the ideologies and principles that they followed to help make peace and order dominate the province.

Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado has promised to allocate financial assistance for the surrenderees that happened on March 26 at the Provincial Capitol’s Ceremonial Hall.

There were 60 participants who joined the turnover ceremony. There were 39 from Trinidad town, 18 from Candijay and Mabini towns, two from Carmen town, and one from Catigbian town.

The End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) fund under the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD) was the source for the distribution.

A total amount of P610,000 was dedicated for the surrenderees which each individual will receive P10,000 to aid them in their return to the society.

Aumentado was also present during the turnover ceremony. He expressed his appreciation for the dedication of those who attended the ceremony.

“Tabangi mi ninyo, kaybaw ko naa pa moy proteksyon, ang uban sige pag contact ninyo,” Aumentado told the returnees.

“Duha ray pa ingnan, i-recruit mog balik or mas maayo kamo maoy mu-recruit nila mubalik sa gobyerno. Mag-uban ta, magkitaay ta para matabangan atong mga igsoon mapasabot nganong pa surrenderon para maabot ang kalinaw sa probinsya nga dugay rang gipangandoy sa ahong amahan. Sayang ang kinabuhi sa paglaban nga way kapaingnan,” he added.

Provincial Director of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) Col. Lorenzo Batuan was also present and gave his words of thanks for the surrenderees in hopes of bringing back the peace and order in the province and what happened in the Bilar encounter will be the last time that there will be lives at risk and bloodshed.

Representative from Region VII of the Infantry Battalion Lt. Charmaine Sancho also engaged in sharing words of encouragement to the attendees to persuade those who they knew to surrender as well as coming back to the government is not life threatening as they imagined, as they are the living proof that the government will not harm them.

The provincial government has pledged to be a helping hand for the surrenderees, through programs and financial allocation to help them start a better life and in fulfillment to keep the peace and order of the province under the Strategic Change Agenda of the Provincial Government of Bohol.
