Fire prevention is a year-round concern but vigilance should be more in the month of March.
With March annually observed as Fire Prevention Month, The Capitol Reports hosted the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) with F/Supt. Raul BustaliƱo, Bohol fire marshall as guest.
During the said forum, BustaliƱo revealed that according to data from January to March this year, the primary causes of fire in Bohol based on investigations are forest and grass fires due to the extreme heat.
Because of this, he called on residents to be vigilant and extra careful not to start fires including the burning trash especially if left unattended.
In another development, BustaliƱo said the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal is ongoing construction on its allotted area measuring 2,000 square meters.
He said construction is also ongoing on the Tagbilaran City fire station building with a budget of P25 million; Trinidad, Lila, and Dimiao fire station buildings each worth P10M, and the Candijay Fire Station Building with P15M budget.
BustaliƱo said that the fire station in Danao has been fully constructed and is waiting to be inaugurated. Funds have also been allotted for the construction of fire buildings in Baclayon, Balilihan and Corella.
He expressed gratitude for the support extended by Gov. Aris Aumentado and the provincial government, Rep. Vanessa Aumentado and in collaboration with Sen. Juan Edgardo Angara, Senate finance committee chair, for the BFP Region 7 Regional Training Center for the funding request worth P600 million. (PIMO/RJG)
