The provincial government of Bohol joined the entire nation in celebration of the National Bible Day with a breakfast fellowship at the Capitol on Jan. 29.

The celebration wrapped up the observance of January as National Bible Month as mandated by Proclamation 124.

Gov. Aris Aumentado said the celebration “is not just to honor our heritage as a nation, but also recognizes the significant role that the Holy Book plays in our lives as Filipinos and as Boholanos.”

In a message read for him by provincial administrator Asteria Caberte, the governor also took the occasion to express his gratitude for the addition of a new baby, the first girl after three sons, who was born to Rep. Vanessa Cadorna-Aumentado last Jan. 23.

The governor said the birth of Baby Life gives deeper meaning to what Jesus said in John 15:7, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

He revealed that over the past years, “I have dedicated myself to Him, and through thick and thin, I have witnessed many wonders that only He can provide.”

“Now, with this blessing that He has granted us through our prayers, I am more than determined to be of service to God and others, as He has commanded us to do,” he added.

In the same message, the governor noted that “as we listen and reflect on His words, I truly hope that you will be inspired by the selected Bible verses that will be read by our friends of various faiths.”

“Let us recognize the Bible as a gift that should always be valued and treasured,” Aumentado concluded.

The National Bible Day is celebrated as a reminder of being a predominantly Christian nation, the largest Christian nation in the Asia-Pacific region.
