At least 25 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Bohol District Jail (BDJ) completed their training course on mushroom production.
Implemented under the 2023 provincial government Abante livelihood through skills training, the program was implemented in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Bohol and the BDJ.
The program, actively pushed by Gov. Aris Aumentado, is part of the anti-poverty efforts of his administration and one that contributes to Bohol’s Strategic Change Agenda.
“Dako nakong pasalamat na bisan pa man sa among sitwasyon, wala kami kalimti sa atong gobyerno” an inmate said in moving speech that capped the ceremony conveying his appreciation for the livelihood program.
He added that this training has given PDLs hope in the future to become productive citizens in the community.
The event was also graced by TESDA Region 7 Director Ramon Evan Ruiz who expressed his gratitude to the provincial government under Aumentado’s leadership for supporting TESDA’s program aimed at transforming and changing lives through livelihood training.
