At least 11 passengers and a driver of a jeepney were hurt when it fell off a cliff in Barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City Monday morning, Jan. 15.
The jeep was travelling to Sevilla town.
The vehicle, driven by Jeramer Calipusan, 37, reportedly developed engine trouble as it was traveling along the downhill portion of V. P. Inting road at around 11:30 a.m.
Calipusan lost control of the wheel, causing the jeep to hit the road barrier and to fall into the ravine.
Dr. Anthony Damalerio, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said that the passengers and the driver sustained minor injuries. They were rescued by the responders.
The highway is an accident-prone area, as a “killer highway. “
