The provincial government welcomed the Yuletide Season with the “Kasadya Sa Bohol 2023″, a celebration of unity, hope, and love for a brighter Bohol.
The festivities opened on Dec 7 when the lights were switched on at the Carlos P. Garcia Park teeming with various Christmas lights, ornaments, and Christmas trees that set a joyful mood in the area.
Inside the park, multiple stalls were opened as the provincial government, through the Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (BEDIPO), in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) and the Bohol District Jail (BDJ), opened a Christmas Market that will run from Dec. 7-14.
The Christmas Market showcases an array of Bol-anon products from local MSMEs, with displays ranging from food, knick-knacks, farm produce and gifts.
While keeping up with the spirit of the season, the provincial government also sees to it that the activities support local cooperatives and MSMEs in Bohol.
With the theme, “Kasanag ug Kalipay Sa Malaumong Ugma, Malipayong Pasko ug Mauswagong Bag-ong Tuig,” the celebration kicked off with a program held in the front of the New Capitol Building where a giant Belen is displayed.
The opening of the Kasadya was attended by provincial government departments and attached offices, national government agencies, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, local chief executives and the general public who witnessed the lighting of the Capitol grounds with music and dance presentations by Koro Seraphim and the WinArts Dance Anatomy.
Vice Gov. Dionisio Victor Balite gave a welcome message focusing on the Aumentado-Balite Administration’s commitment to the province’s social and economic development.
In his inspirational message, Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado called for unity and love during this holiday season.
“Sa panahon sa pasko maoy usa ka higayon nga kitang tanan magkahi-usa aron saulogon ang pagkatawo ni Hesu Kristo, atong mangluluwas,” Aumentado said.
Four Bohol local government units (LGUs) showed off their musical prowesses by participating in the Pastores competition.
The Pastores, a Filipino Christmas tradition introduced during the Spanish colonization, is a musical re-enactment of the nativity story when the shepherds were visited by an angel to announce the birth of Jesus Christ.
Upon hearing the good news, the shepherds visited the holy family to sing and rejoice over the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem.
The LGUs who participated in the Pastores Competition were Lila, Garcia Hernandez, Loboc, and Dauis.
Lila was adjudged the grand champion and overall winner of the Pastores competition and the P150,000 prize that went with it.
Garcia-Hernandez finished second and the P100,000 prize while Dauis settled for third and went home with P75,000.
The Pastores competition is one of the cultural activities that the provincial government has lined up in celebration of Kasadya Sa Bohol 2023.
Meanwhile, Boholanos are invited to witness another event at the Bohol Cultural Center on Dec. 10 where LGUs will participate in the Dayegon Chorale and Rondalla Competitions. (PiMO/GMC)
