Rep. Alexie Besas-Tutor on Tuesday has challenged the new lawyers to be staunch advocates of economic justice.

“I call upon all the Bar passers to be staunch advocates of economic justice which is a crucial domain of justice often overlooked because of the usual emphasis on criminal justice and human rights in the mainstream of society,” said Tutor in a statement.

“Help workers and entrepreneurs forge contracts that protect their livelihoods and careers in the present and for their future. Be alongside the kasambahays, security guards, farmers, and fisherfolk so their labor rights and welfare are defended,” she said.

Tutor also asked the new lawmakers to be present for the senior citizens, retirees, delivery riders, TNVS drivers, and customers of online sellers who are scammed out of their meager earnings.

She said there were many topnotchers from the law schools in the provinces, a proof that quality legal education is available outside of Metro Manila.

She also congratulated her Chief of Staff Marjorie Escuadro for passing the Bar. The entire staff and I are proud of your life-changing accomplishment.

The Supreme Court announced the results of the 2023 Bar examinations on Tuesday. This year saw 10,387 candidates out of 10,791 registered aspirants undertake the rigorous three-day examinations in September, marking a significant milestone in their journey towards a career in law.
