China thanks Bohol cops for rescuing Chinese woman in Panglao

The Consulate General – People’s Republic of China in Cebu thanked the Bohol authorities for rescuing the Chinese woman allegedly kidnapped by four Chinese men and two Filipinos. She was successfully rescued on Oct. 24.

In a letter sent to Col. Lorenzo Batuan on Wednesday, Oct. 25, Consul General Zhang Zhen thanked Lorenzo and all the policemen involved in the rescue operation.

“Please accept my heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Consulate General-People’s Republic of China in Cebu for the exemplary work you and your staff did yesterday in rescuing a Chinese businesswoman from her kidnappers in Panglao, Bohol. It was an enormous undertaking but went smoothly and efficiently. Thank you for your leadership and dedication, as well as the teamwork and efficiency of the Panglao, Bohol police officers,” said Zhang Zhen.

The victim was identified as Chen (family name withheld), 53, a Chinese National from Jiangsu Province, China, was last seen on Oct. 18 in Dauis town.

Six persons were arrested by police operatives: four are Chinese Nationals and two are Filipino citizens.

The alleged kidnapping for ransom was reported to the Bohol police on Monday, October 23.

The suspected kidnappers called the victim‘s family to demand a ransom in exchange for the woman’s freedom.

The victim’s family then sent the ransom money to the kidnappers through bank transfer.
