The provincial government under Gov. Aris Aumentado has began distribution of hybrid rice seeds to Bohol farmers.
The governor personally led the turnover of hybrid rice seeds in Talibon and Ubay on Oct. 25.
Earlier, he inspected the hybrid rice seeds intended for farmers with farm lands 1,000 sq.m. and below.
According to Lorebien Lagapa, provincial rice coordinator, the Office of the Agriculturist (OPA), through the governor’s directive, allocated Php30M for the purchase of hybrid rice seeds for distribution to farmers who are not registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).
In the coordination meetings to prepare for El Niño interventions, the OPA raised concerns on the non-inclusion of farmer beneficiaries in the RSBSA.
Aumentado then directed OPA to facilitate the assistance to farmers especially for this cropping season to ensure bountiful harvest. (PIMO/ALT)
