Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado on Tuesday assured the public that the province remains safe despite the incident of an abduction in Panglao.
“Isolated lamang kini na panghitabo, ug kanunay gihapon ang pagpaningkamot sa inyong Kagamhanang Probinsyal na magpabilin ang kalinaw ug kahapsay sa atong mahal na probinsya,” Aumentado said.
“Malampuson ang maong operasyon, ug nalipay kita sa pagpaningkamot sa PNP-Bohol Police Provincial Office na maluwas ang maong indibidwal gikan sa mga daotang tawo,” he added.
He also ordered increased police patrol and called for public vigilance.
The Chinese woman identified as Cheng (family name withheld) was seized on Oct. 18 in Dauis town by her fellow Chinese nationals and brought to Panglao.
She was rescued in Barangay Poblacion in Panglao town on Tuesday morning, Oct. 24, after kidnapped last Oct. 18.
Four Chinese nationals and two Filipinos were arrested.
With the incident happening in Panglao, a tourist area, several netizens and expats raised worries about their safety.
