Rescuers find body of man who went missing while rescuing friend from drowning

The search for the man who was swept out into the sea in Poblacion Weste in Alburquerque town, Bohol is over.

The body of the missing 20-year-old man who went swimming on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 1, was recovered on Monday noon, Oct. 2.

According to witnesses, Jhon Cyril Tanginan, a resident of Barangay Libjo in Sikatuna town, Bohol was with his friends
in a beach holiday.

Ariel Duavis was swimming with their other friends when they began to struggle in the strong rip current. People on the beach started to hear screams and realized the swimmers were in trouble. Tanginan ran to the waves to try to help the struggling swimmers.

However, Tanginan never came back to the surface. Strong waves swept him into the sea.

“It definitely is a heartbreaker, it’s a moment of heartbreak,” said Del, one of the friends.

Dive teams from Tarsier 117, Philippine Coast Guard and Tagbilaran City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office searched for Tanginan.

Gov. Aris Aumentado instructed them to continue the seach and rescue operations that continued on Monday morning. A private dive teams from Panglao Island also helped search for the missing man.

After 20 hours, the body of Tanginan was recovered by the rescuers.
