434 sari-sari store rice retailers in Bohol get cash aid

Sari-sari store owners in Bohol province whose incomes have been affected by the price cap imposed on two varieties of rice received their cash assistance of P15,000 from the government on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023.

The payout. was held at Barangay Poblacion 2 gymnasium in Tagbilaran City.

The distribution was attended by officials from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap.

DSWD said the aid from the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program-Economic Relief Subsidy (SLP-ERS) aims to address challenges caused by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Executive Order 39, which sets price ceiling for regular milled rice at P41 per kilo and well-milled rice at P45 per kilo.

There were 434 identified sari-sari store micro rice retailers who had claimed their cash assistance.

Genalyn l. Garsuta, a rice and corn retailer for six years, from Antltequera town, said she was grateful for the cash aid.

Rogelio Casuguid, 48, a retailer for 18 years said he thanked the government for the cash aid.

Last week, there were 45 rice retailers who received P15,000 for the second payout.
