The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) is gearing up for the upcoming Boholympics in search of Boholano athletes who will represent the province in national competitions.
A coordination meeting was held on Sept. 22 at the New Capitol Building presided by the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO).
Present were committee members, tournament managers, and local governments to discuss final preparations for the upcoming three-day competition.
The technical working group tasked with the upcoming event is working out the venues for the different sporting events, the logistics needed, and finalizing the roster of participating athletes.
This year’s competition will have 18 events with two categories.
Competitors will vie for the honor to represent Bohol in this year’s Batang Pinoy and the Philippine Nationals Games (PNG) in December at Baguio City.
PYDO says it will look for the “best of the best” athletes and prioritize the training of quality athletes that could secure podium finishes for Bohol.
Athletes vying to represent the province in the Batang Pinoy category must be aged 17 or below to compete in the 18 upcoming events.
This year, PNG abolished its age limit, with athletes born before or in 2005 still open to compete this December.
To compete in the Boholympics, athletes must be a resident of municipalities in Bohol outside of Tagbilaran City.
The 2023 Boholympics will be held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
