Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Tuesday commended teachers for their sacrifices and hard work to provide education to the youth.
Duterte led the kick-off event for National Teachers Day 2023 and World Teachers Day 2023 held at Bohol Wisdom Gymnasium in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.. It was hosted by DepEd-Bohol.
“Many dreams started inside the classrooms. Many dreams were inspired by teachers,” Duterte said.
Duterte said she was also planning to upskill the teachers and ease their administrative works from 56 to 11 administrative works.
Teachers can also avail the 30 days straight vacation leave and open the DepEd website to ask for legal assistance.
Aside from Duterte, Senator Imee Marcos and key officials of DepED, schools division offices from different regions, education partners, local officials headed by Gov. Aris Aumentado and Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, also attended the event.
Strong pillars
Aumentado said the event was “not just a mere celebration around this part of the year.”
“Instead, this convergence is our way of commemorating and highlighting the pivotal role our teachers play in our society,” he said.
“Through their unwavering dedication, our teachers are our reliable and strong pillars in strengthening the bedrock of our families, our communities, and our Filipino nation by imbibing an education that is MATATAG. We also recognize their positive influence and impact that goes far beyond the four walls of their classrooms,”he added.
Marcos pledged to give P1,000 and one sack of rice to each teachers who were present at the venue.
