A fire hit several business establishments in Barangay Tawala in Panglao town on Monday, Aug. 8, damaging P20 million worth of properties.
According to the Panglao Police, the fire happened in Barangay Tawala at about 4:30 p.m.
Initial investigation revealed that the fire started at around 1:38 p.m.of August 7, 2023 involving five (5) establishments namely: Lennon’s Place, Alona Native Hostel, Sea Pearl Alona, Alona Pawikan, Ultra Mint, and Vikings.
The owners of said establishments are Vicky Lagonero (Lennon’s Place), Maridel Matalang (Alona Native Hostel), Judy Ann Deng (Sea Pearl Alona), Maricel Valera (Alona Pawikan), Ultra Mint Corporation (Ultra Mint) while Viking is still to be determined.
Designated Ground Commander was Fire Inspector Erano Fernandez with four number of fire trucks responded coming from Panglao, Dauis, Tagbilaran, and Baclayon considering that it reached to 3rd fire alarm status.
Firefighters put the fire out at around 2:50 p. m. of the same date.
Accordingly, the origin of fire was started the Lennon’s Place’s Room for Rent.
No report of casualty and injury during the incident.
The estimated cost of damages brought by fire is reached to P22,379,000.00.
