The Department of Health (DOH)-Central Visayas turned over five ambulances to five rural units in Bohol on Wednesday as part of the agency’s health facilities enhancement program.

The ceremonial turnover was held at the Governor’s Mansion in Tagbilaran City.

The recipients were municipalities of Loboc, Pilar, Sagbayan, San Miguel, and Ubay.

Each ambulance costs P2.5 million pesos, with medical paraphernalia and life-saving equipment used for emergency responses.

Regional Director, Dr. Jaime Bernadas said
DOH’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program aims to strengthen the country’s medical system and make it more accessible to Filipinos, especially those in rural areas.

He added that municipalities must comply with the agency’s guidelines to ensure functional services of the ambulance, such as vehicle registration, licensing, up-to-date vehicular maintenance, and maximizing its use to enhance medical services from RHUs.

Gov. Aris Aumentado thanked DOH and Senator Sonny Angara for their efforts in providing accessible and affordable healthcare services to Boholanos.

The five municipal mayors from the recipient LGUs were also grateful.

Aumentado assured DOH-7 that the provincial government of Bohol, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), fully backs the agency’s programs and services, especially in implementing Universal Health Care in Bohol’s healthcare system.
