The National Irrigation Administration (NIA)- Region 7 turned over the P4 million worth Pondol-Garcia Communal Irrigation Project to the farmers of Batuan on Wednesday, February 1.
Funded under Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), this project constitutes of two intake gates, six turnouts, three thresher crossings, three drainage crossings, and over a thousand meters of irrigation canals.
Pondol-Garcia CIP will provide irrigation to eight hectares of farmland in Batuan aiding 10 farmer-beneficiaries in the locality.
During the inauguration and turnover ceremonies, LGU Representative Municipal Councilor Segundo Bautista, Garcia Barangay Captain Flaviano Pacatang and IA President Melonie Baguio accepted the symbolic turnover key from the agency.
Baguio expressed his gratitude to NIA during his acceptance message.
āSalamat Sa NIA kay naabot namo ni nga proyekto, amo kining paga ampingan ug limphoyan kanunay [Salamat sa NIA at nakarating sa amin ang proyektong ito. Makakaasa po kayo na pangangalagaan namin ito ng maayos at pananatilihing malinis],” Baguio said.
Also present during the ceremonies were NIA BCSIMO Bohol-Siquijor Office’s Project-In-Charge Bienvenido Seroje, Senior IDO Joy Mendoza, and assigned IDO Glenda Cario.
