Local officials on Thursday closed a bridge to motorists in Barangay Pamacsalan in Pilar town after incessant rains caused by the low pressure area and shear line damaged it.

A portion of the Pamacsalan bridge collapsed and created a big hole on Thursday, Jan. 12, due to rains, which have been pouring without letup since Tuesday.

The bridge connects villagers from Lumbay and Poblacion and Sierra Bullones town.

Gov. Aris Aumentado personally checked the bridge on Thursday afternoon. He had instructed the provincial engineer’s office to conduct rapid assessment to repair the bridge.

Village officials said the Pamacsalan bridge was damaged by typhoon Odette in Dec. 2021.
