Bishop Abet Uy offered a Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Benedict XVI who passed away on Dec. 31, 2022.
The Mass was held on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 12 noon at St. Joseph the Worker Parish-Shrine.
Bishop Uy said that the late pope emeritus was completely the opposite of the caricatures that his enemies made of him.
“Caricatures are simply not true or exactly the opposite. He was meek, humble, warmth and very compassionate who listens and makes one important,” he said.
He said Tagbilaran Bishop Emeritus Leonardo Medroso, and Boholano bishops
Antonieto Cabajog and Crispin Varquez of Borongan in Eastern Samar who met the pope described him as” gentle, simple, holy, loving, same as God.”
The funeral will be held on January 5.
Pope Benedict XVI was elected to the Catholic Church’s highest office on April 19, 2005, and held the office until his resignation on Feb. 28, 2013.
