One died and at least 19 passengers were injured in a road accident in Bilar town on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022.
Police Staff Sergeant Jovel Martos of Bilar Police Station said the Mountain Eagle Trans bus was heading for Tagbilaran City when it figured in an accident at around 9:30 a.m.
The injured passengers were rescued by local rescuers and were brought to hospitals in Carmen and Tagbilaran City.
The fatality was identified as Erlinda Anub, 63, a resident of Pilar town.
Ratilla, the conductor and a helper were not injured during the incident.
Investigators said the bus with at least 25 passengers was traveling along Barangay Villa Aurora when driver Joseph Ratilla lost control of the wheel.
Ratilla told investigators he tried to avoid major damage, causing the bus to swerve and hit a ditch.
