The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) resolved the incident that took place in the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) office in Tagbilaran City, Bohol on July 7, 2022.

In a viral Facebook, a woman identified only as Siempre Con El Corazon went to SWAD office to ask about 4P’s membership for her mother.

“Maam tawo intawn ko nga ning duol ninyo aron mangutana bahin sa 4p’s kalma kaajo ko pero nganong in ana man ang pagtratar nimo naho pwede man unta ko nimo tarungon ug explain kay bisan pobre ko makasabot man ko kung hinayon lang nimo ko ug istoryae pero unsaon man maam nga hapit na man lang diko nimo pa istoryahon sa ahong side imo ra man tanan unja.., ” she said in her post.

The woman continued that she felt embarassed after the staff belittled her infront of other people.

“kahibaw baka maam hangtud karon nag cge gihapon ko ug hilak tungod adto sakit kaajo ahong dughan sa kaguol,nauwaw ko sa mga empleyado nga nmga nakadungog,bisan gani ning hilak nako sa imong atubangan nagpadayon gihapon ka ug yawyaw,” she continued.

The incident also reached the office of Sec. Erwin Tulfo who said that he would conduct an investigation.

On Friday, DSWD reported that the complainant had already deleted the post which drew flocks online and had posted a message indicating that things between her and the worker were already settled.

“Salamat DSWD Region VII ug maam nga nahusay ra ang tanan. Salamat sa pag- anhi ug personal nga madungog ang imong side. Daghan kaayong salamat gaan na sa pamati (Thank you, DSWD Region VII, and to the worker for your assistance. Thank you for personally coming over to hear our side. Thank you very much. I already feel good ,” posted the complainant on her Facebook account.

The DSWD 01C-Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero updated that the regional office has finished the investigation on Friday, July 8, 2022, and the matter is now resolved.

“‘We are happy that the complainant and the DSWD worker have met in the house of the complainant and now understand each other’s side,” said Lucero.

The DSWD worker’s immediate supervisor, together with the 4Ps City Link and the staff from the City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO), assessed the family situation of the complainant.

As a result DSWD-7 provided family food packs to augment the family’s basic needs.

The CSWDO also submitted a referral to the SWAD Bohol office for medical assistance since the complainant is observed to be experiencing postpartum syndrome.

“We will again remind all DSWD FO VII staff to properly deal with different clients whether inside the office or in the communities with utmost courtesy, respect and be devoted to our mandate in responding to their needs and concerns,” added Lucero.

The Department underscored its commitment to continue to bring its prompt and compassionate services to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors with fair treatment in addressing their concerns.
