An aircraft of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) was forced to land at Mactan International Airport Thursday afternoon after an engine turbine reportedly occurred in flight.
The plane with about 100 passengers was en route to Manila from Bohol Panglao International Airport when it encountered an engine trouble past 11 a.m. a few minutes after taking off from the Panglao airport.
Some of the passengers were governor-elect Erico Aristotle Aumentado, former Loboc Mayor Leon Calipusan, board member-elect lawyer Jamie Villamor and former youth leader Benjie Oliva.
Oliva posted in Facebook that at 12 noon, the plane landed back at airport.
“Just landed back at Panglao Airport. OMG! nabali tingali ang ashite sa PAL! Huhuhu,” he said.
According to another passenger on the plane, some aboard weren’t initially aware of what was going on.
They were given free lunch by the crew.
After an hour, the plane was given clearance from Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
However, the plane had an emergency landing at Mactan Cebu International Airport.
Passengers on the plane started to assume the worst.
“OMG! Another technical problem and this time we landed at Mactan Cebu International Airport. Huhuhu Sa sunod ani Dumaguete,Bacolod, Iloilo etc. Kapoy kaayo ni nga Tour jud! Bitaw, thankful lang gihapon kay ang pilot is always after of our safety. Thank you Lord, ” said Oliva.
None of passengers or crew members was reported injured.
As of posting time, the airline has yet to issue an official statement.
