Strong winds and rain from Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) left at least one person dead and damaged hundreds of homes and coronavirus isolation facilities along with rice and cornfields in five hard-hit eastern towns.

The towns in second district were heaviky damaged by the typhoon.

In Ubay town, houses in the villages of Fatima, Tapal and Poblacion were washed out when Odette unleashed her wrath on Thursday night.

Inabanga councilor Jono Jumamoy said the municipal building and market in Inabanga were severely damaged by the typhoon.

In Alicia, Joaquin Felecio, 60, of barangay Cabatang, Alicia died when he took shelter at the village chapel.

Transmission lines are currently out of commission in the Visayas and Mindanao due to Typhoon Odette, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.
