Retired Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Suceso Arcamo on Friday scored the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) for suspending a town councilor over a Facebook post.
Jagna Councilor and media personality Anthony Aniscal is about to be suspended for three months for allegedly posting in the social media regarding the absence of Jagna Vice Mayor Theodore Abrenilla during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Ang committee nag-conduct unta ug factual hearing, presentar sa side sa complainant, mo presentar pod si Aniscal sa iyang defence,” said Arcamo over Kwentas Claras aired on dyTR hosted by veteran broadcast journalist Ted Ayeng.
“Bisag dili sila abogado, kamao man sab na sila mangutana. In public ang hearing nga nay media before nila e resolve ang decision. Mga papel ra gibasihan nila, documents. Siguro gidali- dali kay hapit na election,” Arcamo added.
“Kinsa may dunay conduct pre-judicial to the interest of the public? Or kinsa ang bad example? Si Aniscal nga igo ra ni post nga looy ang Sanggunian ky walay Vice Mayor pirmi? Or kadto ba sige absent kay wala diha? Si Aniscal concern lang sa legislative body nila”, Arcamo said.
Nothing personal, Arcamo noted that the absence of lawyers- members at SP posted a problem as no one can guide them on legal matters.
“Kadtong nanumbag, kinsa man ang dunay conduct pre-judicial? Gawas ug si Aniscal ang nanguna. Waman pod na ma establish,” Arcamo said.
Last year, Aniscal filed an administrative complaint at SP against his fellow councilor Anoldo Pielago who punched him several times during the regular session. However, it was dismissed by the SP.
“E-specify pa ba na nga klaro mana. Di ba diay na klaro nga conduct unbecoming. Dili man si Aniscal ang aggressor, dili pud siya maoy gasugod. Naa sa session dapat gentlemen and honorable member, then manumbag ka,” Arcamo said in a jest.
Arcamo added that the habitual absenteeism of the Abrenilla warrants cases.
Arcamo advised Aniscal to consult a lawyer and file charges against those who voted for his suspension.
