Presidential aspirant and Senator Manny Pacquiao visited the province of Bohol on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021.
He gave 5 kilos of rice and P1, 000 cash aid to residents of Panglao and Tagbilaran City.
Pacquiao arrived at 11 a. m. at Panglao town plaza where he was met by Dr. Doloreich Dumaluan, chairman of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan ( PDP–Laban) in Central Visayas, PDP-Laban candidates in Panglao headed by vice mayoral and incumbent councilor Noel Hormachuelos and Tagbilaran City mayoral candidate and incumbent councilor Dogong Polinar and his slate.
Also present were Panglao Mayor Leonila Montero and some local officials.
Residents have been waiting for hours to have a glimpse of Pacquiao.
Shortly after his message, he was caught in a major downpour. However, this didn’t stop him from giving his speech.
Despite being completely soaked, people didn’t leave the area and social distancing was not even observed.
In a media interview, Pacquiao said that he has been helping out people since 2002, as he was asked about “early campaigning” by giving out money.
“Gusto ko linawin, itong pamimigay ko 2002 ko pa iyon ginagawa kahit hindi pa ako politician. Hindi ko lang ibinalita. Hanggang ngayon. Ngayon lang ginawan ng issue kasi hindi yun ang nasa puso nila,” he said.
In Tagbilaran City, some 1,000 residents were given 5 kilos of rice and P1, 000 cash. The event was attended by Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap and his wife Jane.
Pacquiao had a courtesy call with Bishop Abet Uy at the Bishop’s residence.
