Miss Philippines Cinderella Faye ‘Cindy’ Obeñita was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2021 in a ceremony held in Egypt on Friday night (Saturday morning, Philippine time).
Obeñita is the second Filipina to win the crown, after Karen Gallman of Ubay, Bohol who won the first crown for Philippines in 2018.
Obeñita competed against 70 other hopefuls.
The Miss Intercontinental runners-up are Mexico (1st Runner-up), England (2nd Runner-up), Seychelles (3rd Runner-up), Canada (4th Runner-up), and Colombia (5th Runner-up).
For the question-and-answer portion, the beauty queen was asked whether speaking English is an important factor in being an international ambassador as Miss Intercontinental.
Obeñita is a 25-year-old tourism officer who also works as an events host, model, and brand endorser.
‘As an ambassador, I don’t think that speaking a specific language is very important here in Miss Intercontinental or any pageant at all, as long as that woman is a woman of power and grace, commitment and intelligence no matter what language she speaks. And that woman is actually a woman of style and substance that she can win any pageant or any endeavor that she is into,’ Obeñita expressed.
She continued, ‘I have learned here actually in Miss Intercontinental that a woman should possess a power of substance and I believe I am that woman.
‘We are living in a world that is very hard to survive and as Miss Intercontinental, I would like to be that source of hope, that source of inspiration on the true power of beauty that is felt iin the kindness of our hearts and definitely the sincerity of our loving actions.’
Obeñita, who hails from Cagayan De Oro City, is pageant newcomer.
