Publisher-editor Jhonny Orioque officially made the jump into politics on Friday (Oct. 8) after filing his candidacy for Trinidad mayor in the 2022 elections.
He was accompanied by his wife, Jessica, and his slate of “Team Bag-ong Trinidad.” Former Trinidad Mayor Adel Garcia is Orioque’s running mate.
Mediaman Wilson Auguis Subrio, Florecer “Rese” Gonzales, Rodulfo “Opong” Aumentado, Apolinario “Poly” Orioque, Nigel Atuel and Rene Acuña also filed their candidacies for town councilors.
He said decided to run for mayor to eradicate corruption and poverty. He said he would strengthen the agriculture, fishery, healthcare, livelihood and tourism.
Orioque, also the incumbent village chief of Poblacion, is the publisher-editor of Bohol’s only daily, Bohol Balita Daily News (BBDN).
He said he will also champion measures to fan nationalism, slash fuel prices and set up buffer funds for farming technology
“Makahatag og bag-ong kausaban sa Trinidad,” he said.
