A family of three were rescued after their boat capsized in waters off between Pamilacan Island and Loay town, Bohol on Monday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

Coast Guard Sub Station Loay said a family was fishing on board their motorized banca when waves overturned the vessel due to bad weather caused by tropical depression Lannie.

The Coast Guard’s substation in Loay immediately deployed rescuers upon receiving reports of the capsized boat.

Since the PCG’s vessel could not withstand the waves, they enlisted the help of the Maria Rita Fishing Vessel Rita 8 and 9 to rescue the family.

In a Facebook post, Loay Mayor Hilario Ayuban identified the family members as Efren Sera, his wife and daughter.

Ayuban added the rescued family safely returned to their house all in good physical condition.
