Former US soldier nabbed for drugs, unlicensed guns in Tagbilaran City

Armed with a search warrant, authorities arrested a former US soldier on Thursday (Sept. 30) in Barangay Poblacion 1 in Tagbilaran City.

A report from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bohol, the suspect was identified as John Reynan V. Rejas, 42, also known as “Renante Rejas alias Airborne,” a Filipino American citizen, a retired US Army.

He was arrested at 6:35 a. m. by elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bohol, operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bohol, Special Action Force and Tagbilaran City Police Station.

According to PDEA-Bohol, Rejas was No. 5 Target-Listed personality in Tagbilaran City.

Rejas was placed under surveillance for several months for his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade and possession of loose firearms.

Seized from Rejas were five (5) sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 15 grams with an estimated market value of P102,000, drug paraphernalias, live ammunition of caliber .45 and caliber .22, caliber .22 rifle with scope and silencer, pieces of empty shells of caliber 5.56, caliber .45, caliber .40, caliber 9mm and a holster.

Cases for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article II of RA 9165 and R 10591 will be filed against him.
