Vanessa Aumentado, wife of Bohol 2nd district Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, took her oath as new member of the newly-launched Hugpong Para kay Sara (HPS) on Monday morning, September 13, 2021.
Vanessa will run for a seat in the House of Representatives for the 2nd district of Bohol replacing her outgoing husband.
HPS is a citizens’ movement to convince Davao City mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president in the 2022 elections.
Vanessa with other supporters, chapter members, and officers of HPS took their oath and pledged to support Duterte-Carpio and help her decide to throw her hat in the presidential derby in the upcoming elections.
The group is also appealing to President Rodrigo Duterte to reconsider his vice presidential bid so that Duterte-Carpio can run.
“Kami bilang mga tao o citizens na sumusuporta kay Mayor Sara, while we respect her decision not to run, we believe she is the best person for the job kaya hindi kami tumitigil to convince Mayor Sara to reconsider her statement a few days ago,” Duterte-Carpio’s regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), Secretary General, Anthony Del Rosario said in a press conference in the launching of the movement.
Del Rosario said HPS members hoped to also convince President Duterte to reconsider his vice presidential bid.
Meanwhile, Alyansang Bol-anon para sa Kausaban (ABAKA) reiterated that it will support only Duterte-Carpio for president.
“The Alyansang Bol-anon Alang sa Kausaban (ABAKA) remains committed to Mayor Sara Duterte despite her pronouncement that she is no longer running,” ABAKA said in a statement.
“ABAKA did not declare its support for Mayor Inday because she said she was running. ABAKA declared its commitment to her because it believes she fits the bill as far as its advocacy against illegal drugs, corruption and criminality is concerned,” it added.
