The provincial government of Bohol announced on Friday that Boholanos who are coming home can avail of the discounted fee of RT-PCR testing to help returning residents and Boholano overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
“Good news! For Boholanos coming home to Bohol, you may avail of the discounted fee of RT-PCR testing,” the announcement said posted on the province’s official Facebook.
The New World Diagnostics (NWD) used to collect P3,500 but now, Boholanos only need to pay P1800.00.
It added that for Boholanos traveling within Philippines or abroad, you may also avail of the discounted rate.
Present a valid ID and an airplane ticket to Bohol (for all passengers bound for Bohol); valid ID with proof of Bohol residence (Boholanos who need RT-PCR test); valid ID with proof of Bohol residence and airplane ticket (Boholanos for domestic and international travel).
Travelers have complained of huge prices of PCR test.
Research shows travellers have to pay twice as much for PCR tests.
The cost for an RT-PCR test ranges from P1,500 to as high as P5,000 in some high-end medical facilities, but the IATF-EID has received reports of those charging up to P10,000.
At present, the price cap is set at P5,000 for private laboratories and P3,800 for public laboratories.
