Former National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VII manager Modesto “Dodo” Membreve.

Former National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region VII manager Modesto “Dodo” Membreve bared Friday his plan to run for mayor in Buenavista town in the 2022 national and local elections.

Membreve made it clear as his name was floated as a possible candidate for board member in the second district of Bohol. His name is also circulating as a possible candidate for town councilor.

“I will run for Mayor, I am sure,” Membreve said in an interview with some members of the Bohol media.

Membreve became regional director of the NIA until his retirement last year.

NIA is a Philippine government-owned and controlled corporation primarily responsible for irrigation development and management in the country.

Membre said for decades, the mayors have promised to end his hometown’s poverty, but they’ve all failed.

He announced a plan that would lift many of them out of poverty over the next three years if he will be elected.

Two major programs are to bring potable water and improve the agricultural sector.

“I’m optimistic it will happen,” Membreve said.
