It was nine years ago today (Dec. 25, 2021) that former Bohol Governor Erico Boyles Aumentado died at 72.
His family and friends are marking the occasion by visiting his grave and offered masses and remembering him on social media.
Aumentado’s youngest son, Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, turned to social media to remember his father.
“Missing you Papa Erico as we remember you on ur 9th Death Anniversary. Samot pa gyud among kamingaw labina nga nag atubang napod mi dire ug lain napod nga katalagman. Pls guide us & protect us Lord God,” he posted on Facebook.
Charina Aumentado-Hones said,” Papa Erico Boyles Aumentado , the ache of your loss never leaves, it is profoundly felt at Christmas. We miss you so much. Christmas feels empty without you Pa. We hope you are celebrating in heaven this year…We miss you and love you so much.”
Lawyer Jiselle Rae Villamor also turned to social media to remember her grandfather. She wrote on Facebook: “12.25.21. “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” -John 1:4-5 JESUS: What a beautiful name it is! Thank you, Father God for the strength to endure the trials and conquer obstacles. In the midst of crisis brought by the typhoon Odette, may we all be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas — fellowship, love, forgiveness and hope. Today, we also remember my grandfather, Erico B. Aumentado, who joined our creator on Christmas 2012. Our north star, whose life was dedicated to service and leadership. Have a hopeful and meaningful Christmas everyone. Sa kanunay, mag-amping.”
Erico Aumentado was a former governor, vice governor, and senior provincial board member of Bohol, and congressman and deputy speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives. He was the first governor of Bohol who served for three consecutive terms (2001-2010).
