Captain Aurelios Olano was laid to rest this Monday afternoon, May 3, at the town cemetery in Candijay, in full funeral honors including a 21-gun salute.

Olano served in the Air Force as a fighter pilot in Marawi siege.

During the necrological service, Bohol 3rd District Rep. Alexie Tutor delivered her eulogy.

Tutor recognized Olano’s heroism and extraordinary service.

Tutor and her husband Candijay Mayor Christopher Tutor were godparents during Olano’s wedding.

In a Facebook post, the Air Mobility Command of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), showed Olano accorded with the 21-gun salute conducted by personnel of the PAF.

The Olano family received the Philippine flag to honor Olano, who was killed in a helicopter crash in the seawaters off Jandayan Island in Getafe town, Bohol last April 27.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte conferred the highest Presidential award Olano.

Duterte conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu, the highest award given by the Office of the President to persons in government or private sector who have rendered extraordinary service or have made exceptional contributions to the success of the President’s campaign or advocacy.

Major General Simeon Felix Jr, commander of Air Mobility Command of PAF, awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu Ranggo Kalasag in behalf of Duterte.

Olano’s wife, Louwela Bernales Olano received the award.
