Duterte confers Order of Lapu-Lapu on Boholano pilot killed in helicopter crash

President Rodrigo Duterte conferred the highest Presidential award to the Philippine Air Force pilot, Captain Aurelios Olano, who died in a helicopter crash in the seawaters off Jandayan Island in Getafe town over the weekend.

Duterte conferred the posthumous Order of Lapu-Lapu, Rank of Kalasag, the highest award given by the Office of the President to persons in government or private sector who have rendered extraordinary service or have made exceptional contributions to the success of the President’s campaign or advocacy.

MGeneral Simeon Felix Jr, commander of air mobility command of PAF, awarded the Order of Lapu-Lapu Ranggo Kalasag in lieu of Duterte on Monday noon, May 3.

Olano’s wife, Louwela Bernales-Olano, received the award.

Olano will be laid to rest on Monday afternoon.
