CEBU CITY—Two student-athletes from Bohol delivered strong performances on the track, each clinching a silver medal in separate long-distance events in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) meet.
Yvan Rae Mahinay of San Roque National High School in Alburquerque secured second place in the secondary boys’ 3,000-meter steeplechase, showcasing endurance and speed against the region’s top runners.
Despite the grueling nature of the event, Mahinay maintained a competitive pace throughout the race to finish on the podium.
In the secondary girls’ 3,000-meter run, Juanine Lara of Campao Oriental High School in Getafe also captured a silver medal, demonstrating grit and consistency in one of athletics’ most demanding distance races. Her performance was credited to months of preparation and discipline, guided by coach Geneveve Arboleras.

The twin podium finishes added to Team Bohol’s medal tally and highlighted the province’s growing strength in athletics, particularly in distance running events.
Local sports officials and supporters hailed the athletes’ achievements, noting that their performances reflect the determination and competitive spirit of Boholano youth in regional competitions.
