Tropical Depression Vicky maintained its strength while moving closer to Davao Oriental, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Friday afternoon.
In its 2 p.m. bulletin, the weather state bureau said Vicky is expected to make a landfall in the vicinity of Baganga-Caraga area in Davao Oriental between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
After crossing Mindanao, the tropical depression is likely to emerge over the Bohol Sea early Saturday morning, pass close Siquijor, and pass close or make another landfall over the southern portion of Negros Island.
By Saturday morning or afternoon, Vicky is likely to emerge over the Sulu Sea, according to Pagasa.
Vicky will remain a tropical depression while crossing the Philippine archipelago, Pagasa added.
As of 1 p.m., Vicky was last spotted 95 kilometers east northeast of Davao City. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph. It is moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
