Disney UK released on Monday its Christmas video for 2020 that features the unique Filipino Christmas.
The three-minute short film starts in the 1940s setting at the streets of Vigan with its heritage scenery and kalesas filled with parols, or Christmas lanterns.
A father comes home and gifts his daughter a Mickey Mouse stuffed toy, which she gratefully accepts after a familiar mano po.
Then comes 2005, the daughter, now a Lola who seems to be living abroad together with her Mickey Mouse toy, teaches her granddaughter how to make parols.

However, as the years pass, the granddaughter slowly lost interest in doing such, choosing to be alone or go out with friends in lieu of their parol-making tradition.
The story reaches its climax during one Christmas night when the young girl headed out, leaving her Lola with a kiss on the cheek. The latter holds and drops her now earless Mickey Mouse toy.
Upon returning home, the granddaughter sees the gloomy house and the broken stuffed toy. She was then reminded of her memories with her Lola.
The next morning, the old lady was surprised to see parols decorated in her living room. The scene transitions to show how parols also lit up streets during the 1940’s scene.
Her grandchild then shows up, hands her a red box that contains the now fixed stuffed toy. The two then share a hug, showing their also restored relationship.
The granddaughter creates a festive surprise that lights up her Christmas mornibg and renews their special bond.
While times change and people grow, beloved family traditions make lifelong memories that cross generations and held us together, especialy over the festive period.
The advertisement is part of the company’s “From Our Family To Yours” campaign, wherein proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
100% of the proceeds generated from the stream will benefit the cause until December 31, 2020.
The same beloved Mickey Mouse toy in the clip can be bought at shopDisney UK, with proceeds also going to Make-A-Wish.
