Shellfish ban up in Dauis, Tagbilaran

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has warned consumers that red tide toxin is positive in coastal areas of this province.

BFAR issued Shellfish Bulletin No. 22 Series of 22 indicating that the coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City are now positive for red tide toxin.

These means that all types of shellfish and Acetes species (alamang) gathered from these areas are not safe for human consumption.

BFAR bans the harvesting, selling and consumption of any kinds of shellfish species from these areas.
