A total of 23 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Bohol were recorded today.

This is the highest number of positive cases reported in one day.

Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap made the announcement on Tuesday evening indicating that the positive cases were products of intensified contact tracing efforts in the province.

Of the total, 15 were from Talibon town. There were 13 from the island barangay of Guindacpan, one from barangay San Jose, and another one from San Roque.

There were five from Bien Unido town (4 from Malingin island and 1 locally stranded individual from barangay Nueva Estrella) and the remaining three cases were from Puting Bato in Buenavista town.

Yap said most of these new cases do not have travel histories outside of the province.

“Gawas sa LSI nga taga Nueva Estrella, Bien Unido, ang tanan walay mga travel history, dili LSI o OFW (Apart from the LSI from Nueva Estrella, Bien Unido, the others have no travel history, not an OFW or LSI),” he said.

There were 304 samples taken from close contacts of those who were positive of COVID-19.

These were sent to the molecular laboratory of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) for processing.

The governor again reminded the public to remain vigilant and to always follow the minimum health standards. ###
