Containerized RT-PCR laboratory now has license to operate

The containerized Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratory, owned by the provincial government of Bohol, was finally given its license to operate.This will now boost the capacity of Bohol province for the processing swab samples in the province.The laboratory’s blessing was done at 2 p.m. today which also signaled for its formal operations to commence.It passed the critical proficiency test of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) of the Department of Health (DOH).Th province’s P20 million testing laboratory is capable of running a batch of 150 specimens within eight hours. It would be able to test specimens on a daily basis which would lessen the waiting time compared to that of tests being done at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.Swab samples from patients here had to be taken to VSMMC in Cebu City. But recently, samples were sent to laboratory at Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.The facility is inside the Bohol Medical Care Institute ((BMCI) compound in Dao, Tagbilaran City.
