At least eight eateries and sari-sari stores located beside the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) along Miguel Parras Street in Tagbilaran City were closed on Saturday for disinfection after a watcher, who later tested positive of Covid-19, allegedly had his meal there.
City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II disclosed that this happened last August 19 and 20, 2020.
The male watcher allegedly freely roamed around even after he underwent swab testing for Covid-19.
He is one of the watchers of a Covid-19 patient admitted at GCGMH. There’s a designated watcher’s holding area inside the hospital premises where they are stationed.
The carinderias and stores affected were Rio’s Store, Guiritan Store, Anover Store, B and Boy store, Kan-anan Eatery, Star Jane Eatery, Rodj Eatery and Abad Eatery.
“Pahibalo sa tanan nga naay gikan sa laing lungsod kuyog sa na admit sa gallares hospital ang na positive pod sa PCR test. Naka-kaon ni siya sa mga carenderias pag August 19 og 20 dapit sa gallares hospital. Padong ni mo sud sa isa ka mall pero maayo nalang kay wala pa ni open.”
Yap was referring to nearby Alturas Mall, which he said was still closed at that time.
He also urged those who were able to visit the said establishments on said dates (Aug 19 and 20) to call 0961-618-9368 or 0995-950-0381 for interview and contact tracing.
