Tagbilaran City Police Chief Lt. Col. Mary Crystal Bunao Peralta made history when she became the first female top law enforcement officer in Bohol’s capital on Thursday, May 21.

Peralta replaced Lt. Col. Oscar Boyles.

She’s still the only woman to lead a police department in the city, and among only a handful in Bohol’s 48 municipalities.

She said that women are part in nation building.

“We are not claiming we are better. We have a different perspective on how we cater issues,” said Peralta in her speech.

“It just goes to show that it’s not just a man’s world. I want to inspire other women to see that they can have it all,” she added.
