PHIVOLCS: Three weak tremors recorded in Danao, Bohol

Three weak tremors with a magnitude ranging from 2 to 3 were recorded in three separate periods on Sunday morning in the municipality of Danao in Bohol province.

According to three separate bulletins issued by the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first tremor was recorded at 7:49 a.m. located four kilometers northwest of the said municipality. Its recorded strength of magnitude 2.5 has a depth of four kilometers.

The second tremor was recorded at 8:58 a.m., a little further from the location of the first tremor. Phivolcs says it was a magnitude 2.7 earthquake with a depth of two kilometers.

Both tremors had no instrumental intensities recorded when it happened.

The third tremor was recorded at 10:09 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.3 and a depth of 10 kilometers.

The strength of the third earthquake had reported instrumentalities where Intensity II was felt in Talibon, Bohol.

The three weak earthquakes were tectonic in origin.

According to Stanford University, a tremor is simply a swarm of low-frequency earthquakes. Earthquakes with recorded intensities as low as II may create a slight shaking and could be felt by people indoors.
