A sea turtle locally known as “pawikan” was found dead along the seashore of Barangay Punta Cruz, Maribojoc on Sunday, July 26.
A resident found the turtle on Sunday morning as he walked along the shoreline, and contacted authorities to report it.
In a Facebook post, Jessica Gonzales Moraga said that the sea turtle measured 1.27 meters long, 102 centimeters wide, and weighed around 200 kilograms.
Residents and some barangay officials buried the turtle in the area.
